According to the IdolPhenomena poll my followers are predicting that Tim Urban will be backing his things and heading home this week on Idol. Apparently we thought the same thing last week and saw Paige Miles leave hopefully we picked the right finalist to send packing this week. Will he finally leave the Idol stage for good only time will tell.

Top 10 - R&B Soul Night

Tonight the Top 10 took the stage after being mentored by Usher. The theme for the evening is R&B Soul. Tonight Usher used big words like dichotomy -I don't even know what that means. I totally had to look it up. The first to take the stage tonight is Siobhan Magnus with Chaka Kahn’s Through the Fire. She started very nice but after her initial start she started to fall apart. There were sections that were pitchy, she appeared to be trying too hard and the screaming note – I am not impressed any more. Randy said it wasn’t her best. Kara said that everyone is entitled to an off night. Simon felt that she was running a marathon and was out of breath while singing. How horrible are they showing Siobhan being emotional backstage? Why wouldn’t we give them their privacy FOX??? Ryan have you no respect? Up next was Casey James with Hold on I’m Coming. The overall general census was that he was incredible, however I can’t help think that he is not a versatile performer and sounds like a wedding singer. I know I may be a horrible person but that’s just what I think. Randy felt that his song choice was perfect. Ellen felt it was a safe and generic. Kara wants Casey to display more range for example grab an acoustic guitar. Simon felt that this was Casey’s strongest performance. Tonight we saw a softer side of Michael Lynche as he takes the Idol stage with India Arie’s Ready for Love. I thought his performance this evening was absolutely amazing. It was breathtaking, and flawless. He displayed a sense of honesty and it pureness that was much needed as a step back from the high energy performances before him. Randy said he was in the zone. Ellen said his performance was beautiful. Kara said it was incredible. It displayed true emotion and it was tasteful. Simon believed it was the first time he could see Big Mike as a serious artist. Didi Benami was next with What Becomes of a Broken Heart. I know what happens to them they get voted off. Her performance was all over the place tonight. Randy said it wasn’t great and that he didn’t get it. Kara believes she has lost her way and she doesn’t know her anymore. Simon compared her performance to swimming in jelly. Tonight Tim Urban decided to crucify an Anita Baker classic, Sweet Love. Tim’s attempt to be dramatic was just corny. He had this blank stare throughout his performance almost as if he was uncomfortable on stage. Randy was happy he sang in tune but the song had no swagger. Ellen still thinks he’s adorable. Kara felt that he sucked the soul out of the song. Simon came to the reality that no matter what he thinks all Tim has to do is smile and he’ll be here next week. What a heaping dose of reality I bet VFTW is reveling in that statement. And now Andrew Garcia has officially made a comeback with his acoustic performance of Chris Brown’s Forever. Andrew made the song his own tonight and he felt natural on stage and not forced. Randy exclaimed that he was back and that this was his best performance in a long time. Ellen felt that it was a strong performance. Kara said tonight was one giant leap in the right direction. Simon believed it was miles better than the last couple weeks. Up next was Katie Stevens with Aretha Franklin’s Chain of Fools. Again she demonstrated how mature her voice is. However she needs to be more current and have fun and not be serious. Randy felt that it was the best vocal of the night. Ellen admired her Snooki poof but wants her song choice to be something more current. Kara said it was the best vocal but like Ellen wants her to go back and be younger and more current. While Simon felt her performance was robotic. Lee DeWyze was incredible tonight. He exuberated more confidence on stage tonight and was totally in his element. I personally feel this was the best performance of the night. Randy said that his performance was unbelievable. Ellen felt it was the best of the night. Kara feels that his version of Treat her like a Lady could be on his record. Simon wants Lee to re-watch tonight’s performance and see how life changing his performance was tonight. Another outstanding performance of the night was Crystal Bowersox with Gladys Knight’s Midnight Train to Georgia. She tried something different tonight which I feel showcased a different side of her. I loved how she demonstrated the versatility she has as a performer and I admire her for taking a risk and to go outside of her comfort zone. Randy felt that it was another great performance. Ellen feels that she is in it to win it. Kara was glad to see her take the risk. While Simon said she was sensational and that her vocal was incredible in parts. Last of the evening was Aaron Kelly. Taking on Ain’t No Sunshine. He took the stage in the same fashion he does every week. It was an okay performance it wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t amazing. Kara like his performance while Simon felt it wasn’t as good as last week. Overall tonight was a complete bore fest but worth it to see some outstanding performances. My top three performances of the night go to Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Michael Lynche. My bottom three is Didi Benami, Siobhan Magnus, and Tim Urban. Dare I foresee a shocking cut this week? Who knows it is up to America to keep our favorites in the competition. I know I voted tonight for the first time in a long time. Stay tuned for my Results Show recap Wednesday night.

Today’s IdolReflections post is going highlight Jazmin Lowery. Jazmin was featured in Season 1’s Group 2. She chose to sing Tamia’s You Put a Move on My Heart which displayed her natural raw talent. In my opinion she along with half of Group 2 should have made it through at least to the Wild Card round.

Check out her Semi-Finalist performance and the Judges comments below.
