Okay IdolPhenomena followers I hate to be critical and all but really Shania Twain as a theme... come on? Are we really that desperate for ideas Fox? I'm still not feeling Shania Twain as a Mentor. I realize she has done a lot for country music but I don't feel she is relevant and or current in this day and age. So first up was Lee with an awkward choice in song but an amazing performance. You're Still the One showcased a different side of his vocal talent and his intro without the guitar was incredible. Having never heard It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing before I will say that Michael transformed it into an amazing R&B/Pop Ballad. It was filled with so much emotion I am personally thankful that he was saved two weeks ago. I would agree with Casey when he said that he hasn't really sung yet. However his performance of Don't blew me away. I wish he had performed like this since day one. He had a powerful yet subtle confidence behind his performance and he was truly feeling the words of the song. I do feel that this outstanding performance was had too late in the competition because I feel Casey has been digging his grave to leave for way more. I anticipate him to leave next week. Since we already have this weeks results. Crystal's performance of No One Needs To Know has got to be her worse. It was bad but I don't think it was a good song choice. However, seeing her on that stage with the band behind her just felt right, and like she has been doing this for years. Aaron was second too last of the night with his rendition of You've Got A Way which he sang for his mom-Awwww. I feel that this performance has made him more of an artist and less of that good voice he has been. There was such power and emotion in his performance he truly made it his own. I totally agree with Simon when he said that it was sincere and believeable. Way to go Aaron!!! Last but not least was Siobhan with Any Man of Mine. First off Siobhan WTF were you wearing??? and OMG the end the yelling is totally not cute any more. You definitely deserved to go. So with that the results was that Idol said goodbye to Siobhan this week. Michael and Casey were also in the bottom three. Dare I say it is a precusor for next week when Casey goes home then Michael will go home even though he deserves to be in the Top 3 instead of Aaron. The rumors of a Crystal vs. Lee finale keep coming more realistic to me. Overall I am not awfully impressed with this season just like many other Idol fans are. However, I still need to watch because I'm hooked ;-)

Allison was the fourth place contestant on American Idol Season 8. Her album Just Like You debuted in December of 2009. Her album has sold over 97,000 copies in the U.S. alone. Ashley Cleland was an American Idol Season 6 Hollywood Contestant. She is mosted noted for her audition that featured herself Ebony Jointer and Heather Rennie on roller skates. She refers to her Idol experience as the craziest thing that she has ever done. Today she turns 20 and our Best Wishes for a wonderful day go out to her.


Samantha Sidley turns 24 today. Samantha is a Hollywood Contestant from American Idol Season 7. She was a featured audition in Omaha where she sang Don't Know Why by Nora Jones. Her current musical endeavors which can followed on her MySpace have a Jazz R'nB vibe to them. Okay IdolPhenomena followers every know and then it is big a day for Birthdays like it is today. IdolPhenomena would like to wish the very first American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson Happy Birthday! Today Kelly turns 28 and in those 28 yrs she has won 12 Billboard Music Awards, 4 American Music Awards and 2 Grammys and she is a Multi-Platinum selling artist. Today he turns 30 and since his stint on Idol has been nominated for several awards and has released a debut album My Best Days for which he has sold over 1000,000 copies. Joelle James is also celebrating her 20th Birthday today. For those of you who don't remember Joelle she made the Top 40 in American Idol Season 6. Since then she has had a variety of accomplishments he first being making it as far as she did in American Idol at the age of 16. She has been a finalist on Star Search (CBS), performed on America's Most Talented Kids (PAX), and performed on Showtime in Harlem (UPN). This week marks the half way point towards crowning this years Idol winner. Alicia Keys mentors the finalists this week as they all take on inspirational songs. First of the night was Casey James with Fleetwood Mac's Don't Stop. Overall I felt like this song had no melody. My initial reaction was that he was trying to imitate a Lee DeWyze performance. We obviously know that Casey is a great guitarist however, this is not guitar Idol it's American Idol therefore, he needs to step up his vocal. After Casey was Lee with his version of The Boxer. Throughout his performance you were able to tell that the song meant something to him. Ithink conveying that type of emotion is an incredible task which he was able to perform. Congrats Lee. Tim Urban took the stage with an odd choice of Goo Goo Dolls, Better Days. After this decent performance I was much confused like the judges as to what type of artist Tim was. I wouldn't be surprise if he is in the bottom three. Aaron Kelly tackled a big song; R. Kelly I Believe I Can Fly. This song was way to big for him. Felt very karaoke and I felt like I was watching a really good high school talent show contestant. First lady of the night Siobhan Magnus. First off WTF is she wearing-Did you get dressed in the dark again? The whole song was out of tune I felt you sang it all just above the actual notes. You also changed the duet When You Believe too much that there were sections where it was entirely unrecognizable. Will you ever sing in tune??? Note I said sing not yell cause apparently that's all you do. Yelling somewhat in tune must be your forte. Next was the incredible Michael Lynche with Hero. Horrible song choice for this evening. Yet, Big Mike's vocal was absolutely incredible. And last by least the most incredible performance of the night. Crystal Bowersox chose Everybody Get Ready. Which was so emotional she was moved almost to tears. Compared to everyone else Crystal makes her performances seem effortless. She is definitely a true artist and is going places. So I almost fell out of my chair when they announced the results. Tim is finally gone. My Idol dreams have come true -LOL

As American Idol and its Top 7 move into its Inspirational Songs week under mentor Alicia Keys their French counterparts of Nouvelle Star are moving into their Top 10. Having already cut the group from a Top 15 down to a Top 10 I thank the internet and all of its resources for allowing us in the US to view clips and such from Idols international counterparts and plus now that they are past their auditions I might be able to understand a majority of the songs these people perform.
