Henry Smith is a singer/songwriter/producer that combines intelligent thoughtful lyrics, melodies one can hum, a variety of rhythmic styles, and instrumental improvisation that creates an eclectic sound that incorporates several musical genres. Majority of the songs performed by Henry Smith are written and produced by Henry.

It was his first competitive performance at the age of fourteen that changed Henry's life. Beating out fellow singers, rappers, and dancers, Smith won over the crowd claiming first prize at his high school's talent show. It was this shining, victorious moment that inspired Smith to dedicate himself to making an impact in the music industry.

Smith’s inspiration comes from a number of sources. Among these are Michael Jackson, Boys II Men, Maxwell, R. Kelly, Dru Hill, Tyrese, and Brian Mcknight. Committed to being the total package both on stage and in the studio Smith is always doing the best he can to perfect his skills. By writing and arranging his own vocals and producing the majority of his beats, his music is a heartfelt reflection of his life and influences.

In 2005, and 2010 Smith was crowned winner of CTNow / Fox News and Kiss 95.7's Connecticut Idol Competition. In addition to this notable win, Smith was UMass Amherst's first UMass Idol and the only person to win the competition twice.

Henry first auditioned for this current season of Idol in New Jersey and didn’t make it. He then flew out to San Francisco where he progressed through a few of the preliminary rounds but didn’t get a chance to sing for the Judges. He gave Idol one last try via My Space audition and it was this last chance that got him called out to Los Angeles to audition for the Judges. He then received that prized golden ticket to Hollywood. He made it all the way through to the Top 100 and was able to perform one last solo for the judges before being cut right before the Top 61 were announced.

Colby is from Mililani, HI and it was her audition for Idol via My Space which brought her out to L.A. to audition in person for the judges with the support of her mother. Colby was one of 327 talented individuals invited to Hollywood for a chance to be this year's American Idol. She started singing when she was about 9 years old and has been inspired by her hardworking parents because they've made a successful life for themselves and family. Carrie Underwood is her favorite performer because she's an amazing singer. Shelby is the next American Idol because she is both confident in her abilities and talent.

The Best You Can

Karen traveled all the way from New York to Los Angeles after earning an opportunity to audition in front of the judges due to an outstanding My Space audition. After being a consistent good performer through each round Karen earned a spot in the Top 24. Check out her audition that earned her a Top 24 spot [here]. Karen auditioned because it was the first time they had My Space auditions. She started singing at a young age. This bi-lingual singer wants to be the first Hispanic-American winner. She is inspired by her mother because she also wanted to be a singer growing up but chose another path. Her favorite all-time performer is of course Selena Quintanilla-Pérez and Beyonce. Karen is no stranger to singing on television because she was also a contestant on "Objetivo Fama," a reality singing competition in Puerto Rico. Check out two of her performances for [El Hombre Que Yo Amo] by Myriam Hernandez and [Sola Otra Vez] sung both by Celine Dio nand Lara Fabian. One interesting thing about Karen is that she is a Laguardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts '07 alumni along with contestants Pia Toscano ('06) and Rachel Zevita ('05).
