My last Idol Spot Light featured someone outside of North America so I thought I would keep up with that international theme and suggest that IdolPhenomena followers check out Joy Tobing. Her album Rise was released in 2005. This album was produced by Kevin Porée and Charlotte Gordon Cumming. For those of you who don’t know who Joy is she is the first winner of Indonesian Idol. Having roots in Christian/Gospel music her album Rise exemplifies that. Falling under the Pop genre you can definitely tell where her roots are. Rise, the title track is a great pop ballad while Amazing Grace is a subtle but powerful hymn.
