This IdolBirthday takes us all the way back to American Idol Season 3 where Diana DeGarmo came in second to Fantasia. Since American Idol Diana has been up to alot of things. After the finale she was signed to RCA /19 Records from which she released her debut single Dreams in June of 2004. Her debut album Blue Skies would later be released that same year. In late 2007 she participated in CMT's Gone Country. It was during this time she decided to cancel her current Pop/R&B album in progress and head to Nashville to explore her Country roots. In 2008 she signed to John Rich's production company and released a Country demo. And in 2009 she released an EP entitled Unplugged in Nashville. In 2006 DeGarmo made her Broadway debut playing Penny Pingleton in Hairspray for about four months. Also that year she performed the lead role of Brooklyn in the 2006 national tour of Brooklyn: The Musical alongside one of her idols, Melba Moore. After that she again returned back to Hairspray for another period of time. In February 2009 she starred as Dorothy in a tour of Oz the Musical, a contemporary version of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, but left the tour after its first leg in February 2009. DeGarmo then starred in the musical revue Back to Bacharach and David featuring the songs of Burt Bacharach and Hal David in Los Angeles. In July 2009, she starred as the narrator in the Oklahoma Lyric's Theatre production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat alongside Idol alum Anthony Fedorov. Debuting August of 2009, DeGarmo played the role of Sarah, in the Off-Broadway musical, The Toxic Avenger until its closing in January of 2010. She is currently playing the role of Sheila in Broadway's Hair alongside idol alum Ace Young. We only expect more great things. IdolPhenomena would like to wish her a Happy 23rd Birthday!!!!
